Hoop House Access Procedures updated 2.22.24 

Hoop House Operating & Access Hours:  

• The Hoop House will remain locked at all times when not being used by the Hoop House Leadership Team, members of the Hoop House Check-in Crew, or groups who have an approved “reservation”. 
• The Hoop House Leadership Team, Check-in Crew, and approved groups will not share the door or shed codes with anyone. 
• The Hoop House Leadership Team, Check-in Crew, and approved groups can access the Hoop House during the hours of 7am-7pm. If you are a designated leader who has been given access to the Hoop House, you are welcome to bring friends, family, and other trusted people with you when you visit the Hoop House. If you do, you are responsible for making sure that they understand Hoop House protocols and for making sure that everyone is out when you leave.

• Between 7pm and 7am, if designated Hoop House leaders need to access the Hoop House, they must call Campus Safety before entering. If you don’t call Campus Safety before entering, Campus Safety might call Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. 
• No one should be in the Hoop House while it is locked without permission.  
• Combination codes will be changed at least one time per term.  

Cameras:  

• Cameras are installed and will be monitored by staff and Campus Safety. 
• Signs about cameras are posted. 

Weather Policy:  

• No one should be in the Hoop House during a thunderstorm. 

• If you hear thunder or see lightning, leave immediately.  

• Suggestions of places to go to wait out the storm: in a car, in the Fitness and Wellness Center or another campus building. 

• If you anticipate a storm, take precautions and start to pack up before the storm arrives.  

Bathrooms:  

• There are no bathrooms at the Hoop House.  
• Bathrooms are available for Kalamazoo College faculty, staff and students in the Fitness & Wellness Center.  
• Swipe access is required for entry into the Fitness & Wellness Center. 
• Before larger community events, create a bathroom plan for community members.  

Check-ins and Visiting:  

• Everyone is encouraged to visit in pairs.  
• Everyone is encouraged to visit during daylight hours.  
• Anyone not already in the Hoop House Leadership Team, Check-in Crew, or an approved group needs to get permission by contacting Sara Stockwood (Sara.Stockwood@kzoo.edu).
• If you arrive at the Hoop House, it is locked, and there is someone inside, call Campus Safety.  
• If you are followed inside the Hoop House and feel uncomfortable, call Campus Safety.
